Abstract: In 2014, the Australian Bureau of Statistics was provided with a dataset of temporary visa holders in Australia as at 31 July 2011 by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection to assess its suitability for integration with the 2011 Census of Population and Housing. In 2015–16, the ABS proceeded to probabilistically link the records of international students and temporary skilled workers in Australia with person-level information from the 2011 Census. The resultant dataset, the Australian Census and Temporary Entrants Integrated Dataset, promises to contribute significantly to a better understanding of the socio-economic characteristics and geographic distribution of these two temporary entrant populations, leading to more informed and targeted policy development and evaluation. This paper describes the creation of the linked dataset and provides an assessment of its quality. [TROVE]

Abstract: The National Teaching Workforce Dataset (NTWD) describes the Australian teaching workforce. This data analysis report is one of three publications produced as a result of the three year project to compile the NTWD. The companion documents are the project report and the data dictionary. The data analysis report presents analysis of all the 45 data items initially specified to be included in the initial NTWD. Each data item, where data is available, is profiled and presented. Further in depth analysis is then presented into six areas of focus. The intention of these is to provide a more thorough investigation of areas that are of higher value in understanding the teaching workforce. These six areas are: Teacher age; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous) status; Principals; Teachers in low SES schools; Teacher qualifications; and Registered teachers that are not employed.
